Mr. Gorman is a registered Professional Geologist in California with over 7 years of experience in the environmental industry. During this time, Mr. Gorman has served as a project manager and technical consultant for numerous site characterization investigations, remedial action projects, and site assessments.
His experiences include:
(1) conducting Phase I and Phase II site assessments and investigations;
(2) planning, implementing and managing sampling and analysis programs;
(3) designing, evaluating, and implementing remedial alternatives; and
(4) corrective action planning and reporting.
He has had extensive field experience employing drilling and sampling techniques including, cone penetrometer testing (CPT), air percussion drilling, air rotary drilling, sonic drilling, hollow stem auger drilling, and various direct push and HydroPunch drilling and sampling methods including depth discrete soil and groundwater sampling. He also has extensive field experience in well installation and development, soil excavation, and soil, water, and soil vapor sampling.
Primary areas of responsibility for Mr. Gorman include the following:
- Senior hydrogeologist assisting in the preparation and execution of an Environmental Conditions Investigation at former chemical manufacturing facility located in Henderson, Nevada.
Responsibilities have included:
(1) designing, overseeing, and coordinating the performance of geophysical surveys;
(2) assisting in the development of technical scopes of work and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to assess the presence and distribution of chemicals within the vadose zone and groundwater;
(3) planning and implementation of several drilling programs;
(4) developing a database (Microsoft Access) to store extensive soil and groundwater analytical data; and
(5) assisting in the development a conceptual site model; - Senior hydrogeologist and project manager responsible for methane migration investigations and environmental compliance monitoring at a former municipal landfill in South San Francisco, California. Specific activities performed include: implementation of drilling and vapor sampling programs, assessment of remedial alternatives, design of a remedial system, and implementation of a remediation pilot-study. Other project responsibilities include oversight of groundwater and stormwater monitoring activities, and coordination with representatives from the California Integrated Waste Management Board and San Mateo County Health Services Agency; and
- Project and Field Hydrogeologist for a RCRA Facility Investigation (RFI) to assess the lateral and vertical extent of VOCs in multiple aquifer zones beneath a former electronics manufacturing facility located in San Diego, California. Specific activities performed include: collecting and analyzing data to determine aquifer properties, well installations using the sonic drilling method, and low-flow groundwater sampling.
