Mr. Harris is a geologist with over 20 years of experience in hazardous waste management, environmental consulting and economic geology. He has managed hazardous waste assessment and remediation projects for more than 10 years. Mr. Harris joined PES in February 2002. His experience has included sites impacted with fuels, solvents, landfill gases, metals and mining wastes, and wood product industry wastes.
The primary areas of responsibility for Mr. Harris have included the following:
- Project manager for a USEPA emergency response action in Nighthawk, Washington. Responsible for the emergency removal of 100,000 cubic yards of mine tailings from the floodplain of the Similkameen River, the design and construction of a permanent upland repository for the mine tailings, design and construction of sediment management plans for the floodplain and repository, and revegatation of the floodplain and upland construction site;
- Client and project manager/geologist for Pennzoil/Quaker State Company. Responsibilities included technical point of contact duties for West Coast client sites, management of hazardous waste site investigations and remedial designs/remedial actions, regulatory negotiations on behalf of client, and Phase I property assessments for acquisitions and divestitures;
- Client and project manager/geologist for Time Oil Company. Responsibilities included technical point of contact duties for northwest client sites, hazardous waste site investigations and remedial designs/remedial actions, and risk assessments;
- Project manager and geologist for over 20 underground storage tank investigations involving soil and groundwater sampling, feasibility studies, remedial design and construction, permitting, risk assessment, and closure reporting;
- Project manager for lead-contaminated soil investigations at gun clubs and industrial facilities. Designed investigation strategies, designed and implemented remedial actions, conducted statistical evaluations for cleanup compliance, segregated and characterized soils for disposal to minimize disposal costs;
- Project geologist for numerous investigations at Department of Defense facilities, mining sites, and industrial facilities including fuel depots, a coal-fired electrical generation plant, a coal mine, a hydroelectric plant, a chemical distribution facility, and an abandoned landfill; and
- Project geologist for two timber sale Environmental Impact Statements in southeast Alaska. Evaluated economic mineral potential and conducted surface water impact analysis for proposed timber sale tracts.
